Samsung Galaxy S10

Many Android smartphone users think that system updates should be regular. Therefore, we, and certainly many of you, are pleased that the regularity of firmware updates has increased drastically in recent years.

This is especially true for larger and more important smartphone manufacturers, but thanks to various integrations into the system from Google, smaller companies can also regularly update their models.

Project Treble and Android One are very good things that are already used in practice today. The former flagship of the South Korean giant, the Samsung Galaxy S10, has now received a very significant update in our country.

The update for the Samsung Galaxy S10 brings many smaller and larger innovations

Our reader Juraj announced the availability of an update for the Samsung Galaxy S10, which includes many major new features. This update brings support for charging via Samsung DeX or the ability to connect to a TV via Wi-Fi Direct.

In addition to the topic of data transfer to an external screen and charging, we will also mention the ability to measure information about the quality of Wi-Fi routers in the area.

This means that after the update, it will be possible to see verbal data about the connection speed, such as "Very fast", "Fast", "Normal" and "Slow". Note that the feature may need to be turned on in the “Display Network Quality Information” setting if you are interested.

However, the topic of Wi-Fi does not end here. Other secondary, minor features have been added. It is worth mentioning the "Require password" button, which will appear on the display if a person near you is stored in the contacts on the device and has connected to the network in the past.

This is an interesting, more complex feature that has been added to the Samsung Galaxy S10 system itself thanks to this update. As for the functionality of the Always On display, it should be mentioned after the new support for Bitmoji stickers on this type of screen.

A few minor improvements for better use

Small tweaks also took place on the Samsung keyboard. One change was received by the camera, more precisely to improve the professional video mode. The messaging application is enhanced with new options with SOS contact. From now on, it is possible to share a location with such a person for 24 hours, with renewal every 30 minutes.

Finally, the Samsung Note app will support importing PDF files. Any manuscript can be added to the computer text, and page breaks and search basically from page number are also supported.

Are you one of those who has already received an update in our region as well? If this is the case, feel free to write it down to us in the discussion so that we and other readers can be sure that the update is already released to users in bulk.

Huawei Mate 40

Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei's consumer group, confirmed in an interview that the Huawei Mate 40 "is on the way." It is important information since it denies the rumors that suggested that said smartphone was going to be delayed to 2021 due to the problems that the Chinese giant is having due to pressure from the United States. The Huawei Mate 40 will arrive, except disaster, in October 2020, that is, within a month, approximately, and will be equipped with an SoC manufactured in 5 nm. This last data says a lot, although a priori it seems the opposite. The reason is very simple, Qualcomm does not currently have any chip manufactured in the 5 nm process, and the same happens with the other players in the SoC sector, so we can make it clear that the Huawei Mate 40 will mount a Kirin in 5 nm. Some sources comment that the Huawei Mate 40 could be the company's last smartphone equipped with a Kirin SoC, information that seems to make sense if we look at the consequences of the blockade that the United States has imposed on the Chinese company, since it cannot buy semiconductors from TSMC since last September 15, but we must bear in mind that on November 3 new elections to the presidency of the United States will be held and that there is a possibility that Trump will end up leaving the White House. If Trump loses the elections, there is the possibility that the new president will start a new round of negotiations that will allow the veto of Huawei to be softened, or even eliminated, and that it can buy chips from TSMC again. There is nothing definitive, but it is a possibility that could be perfectly fulfilled, and therefore we must take it into account.

When will the Huawei Mate 40 arrive in Europe?

Unfortunately, we have bad news. It is true that the launch of the Huawei Mate 40 is scheduled for October this year, but it will initially be limited to the Chinese market, which means that we will not be able to buy it in the old continent. Its arrival in Europe would take place sometime in 2021, probably between the first and second quarters of that year. If we read between the lines, this partial launch limited to China suggests that Huawei would not have been able to accumulate enough new generation Kirin chips in 5 nm to face a global launch and that therefore it has had no choice but to carry out a limited release. Launching the Huawei Mate 40 internationally between the first and second quarters of 2021 would give the Chinese company enough room to accumulate new Kirin chips, as long as what we have said above about the US presidential elections, and about the veto to the Chinese company. We still don't know the full specifications of the Huawei Mate 40, but thanks to a round of leaked images we have been able to see its design. We have an all-screen front with a dual-camera configuration integrated into a floating island. The side edges have been kept to a minimum, thanks to the extended screen finish that has been around for a few years now. At the rear, we have a circular island where a total of four cameras are integrated. The most interesting thing about this island is that it will have, in theory, a circular crown that we could use to perform certain actions in a very simple way, such as controlling the volume, zooming in, and turning the page.

Galaxy S21

Samsung never sleeps and annually brings to the market a number of smartphones in all price categories. This time we will be talking about the upcoming Galaxy S21 Ultra model, about which we already know something.

Samsung played with the cameras

The top model in the Galaxy S21 series should come with four sensors on the back, two of which should have a telephoto function. The sammobile.com portal states that the four cameras are similar to those of the Galaxy S20 Ultra. The aim of this change is to prevent frequent zooming with a 108-megapixel sensor and thus ensure, in particular, higher quality photos and thus avoid software detail restoration. The first of the telephoto lenses offer a triple zoom, the second should be able to zoom in more than five times. It should also include a main, 108-megapixel camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor, and a 40-megapixel selfie camera. We will not see the TOF of the sensor in this case. As for the cheaper siblings of the Galaxy S21 series, we can also expect the absence of a TOF sensor. There should be no further fundamental changes.

The battery has not changed

There have been no changes at all in the case of the battery. It comes with a capacity of 4885 mAh, which should be designated as 5000 mAh. According to gsmarena.com, the battery model number is EB-BG998ABY. This confirms that it is the same model that was used for the Galaxy S20 Ultra. Of course, the battery life will definitely change, as the new models will use Snapdragon and Exynos processors, made by the 5 nm process. This means that in the event of perseverance, we could expect positive changes.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ has been on the market for over a year but is still one of the best smartphones on the market. Thanks to the latest update, which brings the extension of Samsung One UI 2.5, it will now be an even better device. Reader Samuel has notified us that an update is available, and we thank him.

A September security patch is also included

Galaxy Note 10 The software update is available via OTA and is numbered N975FXXU6DTH7. Its size is 1148.07 MB. It's still built on last year's version of Android 10, but it brings its September security patch. It fixes several security vulnerabilities that could be exploited by malicious software. The main improvement, however, is the graphical superstructure in the Samsung One UI 2.5 version, which was introduced by the first Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and Galaxy Note 20 smartphones. Before installing the update, make sure that your smartphone is charged to at least 70% of its battery capacity. The lower model Samsung Galaxy Note 10 does not yet report to us in the editorial office the availability of the update with the One UI 2.5 extension and the September security patch.

What does Samsung One UI 2.5 bring?

Probably the most interesting feature of the One UI 2.5 extension is the Wireless DeX desktop mode. Unlike the original Samsung DeX, no cable is required. All you need is a compatible Samsung smart TV and your smartphone will display a desktop interface similar to a PC with all the applications on your smartphone. Its display then serves as a touchpad and keyboard, but it is also possible to connect a BlueTooth keyboard and mouse.

While support for 5G networks is still not an essential parameter when choosing a smartphone, yes in the world. This includes the Chinese market.

While support for 5G networks is still not an essential parameter when choosing a smartphone, yes in the world. This includes the Chinese market. According to the GizmoChina, more than half of the smartphones sold there in August supported 5G technology.

The number of issued and delivered smartphones decreased year-on-year

The portal is based on an analysis by the Chinese Academy of Information and Communication Technologies (CAICT). According to her, up to 45 new models were released on the Chinese market in August. As many as 42 of them came from Chinese producers, which is a year-on-year increase of 5%. 26.9 million smartphones were delivered to the market, which is a year-on-year decrease of 12.9%. 24.4 million pieces came from Chinese producers. Although this is a year-on-year decrease of 15.6%, it still accounts for 90.8% of delivered smartphones. From January to August, 301 models were released in China and a total of 202.3 million smartphones were delivered. In the case of the released models, it was a year-on-year decrease of 19.5%, and in the case of delivered smartphones, it was again a decrease of 12.5%

For a Chinese customer, 5G support is an increasingly important parameter

Interestingly, up to 22 models out of 45 released in August had 5G support. And up to 60.1% of the pieces delivered to the market during the last month supported 5th generation mobile networks. That means 16.2 million 5G smartphones sold. Since the beginning of the year, 145 models with 5G support have been released and a total of 93.7 million units with this technology have been delivered. This shows that this parameter is becoming increasingly important for Chinese customers and is related to the expanding coverage of 5th generation mobile networks by Chinese operators. It is likely that next year only 5G lower-end smartphones will lack support. For the time being, 5G support for the customer is a secondary parameter when choosing a smartphone due to the zero coverage of 5th generation mobile networks.

Realme UI 2.0: the new extension will offer these features, coming soon https://android-heads.com/news/realme-ui-2-0-coming-soon-30 https://android-heads.com/news/realme-ui-2-0-coming-soon-30#respond Fri, 18 Sep 2020 18:05:50 +0000 https://android-heads.com/?p=30 The first was Huawei with its EMUI 11, we have already heard about Samsung and One UI 3.0, earlier Xiaomi - MIUI 12 introduced its superstructure and now we learn about Realme and its Realme UI 2.0

realme UI 2.0

Just a few days ago, Google introduced Android 11 for its Pixel smartphones. Immediately, the manufacturers began to present the latest versions of their superstructures.

The first was Huawei with its EMUI 11, we have already heard about Samsung and One UI 3.0, earlier Xiaomi - MIUI 12 introduced its superstructure and now we learn about Realme and its Realme UI 2.0. The show will take place on September 21 in India, GizmoChina recalls.

Realme UI 2.0 is actually a modified ColorOS 11

As Realme is a subsidiary of Oppo, its superstructure is actually taken over from the more experienced parent superstructure ColorOS. The first version of the Realme UI extension was derived from ColorOS 7.

ColorOS has introduced the following features, so it is likely that most (if not all) of them will also be included in the upcoming Realme UI 2.0 extension.

ColorOS will now support advanced Always On Display adjustments in version 11, similar to MIUI 12 or EMUI 11. Unlike the two platforms mentioned, ColorOS allows users to choose their own color style to carry across the superstructure (similar to OxygenOS 11 on OnePlus devices).

It will also contain some form of artificial intelligence, which will be adapted to the user's style and will thus generate color wallpapers, ringtones, and other elements based on the user's style.

ColorOS also offers three black theme setting modes. They are called Enhanced, Medium, and Fine. You'll also find options like Auto Contrast, Fit Backgrounds to Black Theme, Fit Icons to Black Theme, Black Theme Timer, and support for third-party applications that don't yet have a dark mode.

Oppo last year brought more than 30 artistic wallpapers. This year he teamed up with Beauty of Science to bring beautiful scientific backgrounds, such as microscopic, macro, and time-lapse images.

Oppo Relax 2.0

It allows users to relax with ASMR sounds, rain sounds, city bustle, and more. You can also select specific cities whose sound you want to hear (Bangkok, Tokyo, or Reykjavik).

Three-finger translation

You may recognize a three-finger gesture that takes a screenshot. Oppo took this gesture to new heights by offering partial screenshots. To do this, hold three fingers on the screen.

In addition, ColorOS 11 allows you to instantly translate the contents of the screenshot. For this feature, Oppo has teamed up with Google and uses its Google Lens system.

FlexDrop

FlexDrop is the answer to the multitasking possibilities found in MIUI 12 or EMUI 11, for example. The function allows you to reduce the application window to your desired size and use two at a time next to each other.

Private System

This feature allows you to make a private and secure copy of your system and lock it with a fingerprint or password. Applications are independent of each other between systems. When creating, you choose the applications that you want to transfer to the new system and they will be transferred to you. If you forget some, you can install them later.

Interestingly, however, notifications are linked between systems. We have no idea how this will work in practice, even if you receive notifications from an application that is in another system.

Realme UI 2.0 will bring performance improvements

Oppo has introduced UI First 2.0 to improve fluidity and lighten the system on high refresh rate devices. The result is better RAM utilization by 45%, response speed increased by 42%, and image stability increased by 17%.

The superstructure also contains artificial intelligence, which preloads the applications that the user uses most often. However, for proper functioning, it learns the behavior of its owner for a while. Similarly, the SuperTouch function works, which learns various scenarios when the user clicks and adjusts the reaction speed of the touch accordingly.

There's also the HyperBoost 3.0 feature, which allows you to intelligently allocate CPU power, reducing battery consumption by as much as 12%.

Features that improve battery life

Super power-saving mode allows you to reduce battery consumption to a minimum. However, when it is turned on, you can only use 6 applications of your choice. Oppo mentions that if you have 5% of the battery, in this mode it will be enough for 90 minutes of writing messages on WhatsApp.

Battery Guard learns the user's charging behavior and adjusts charging accordingly to maintain the best possible battery health. If you charge your phone overnight, charging will stop at 80% and will not continue until the morning if you move your phone.

This was an overview of the changes that ColorOS 11 will bring, we have no idea that Realme UI 2.0 will bring. However, a beta version is already available for the Realme X50 Pro flagship.

Yasan Launcher

It is a launcher that works by artificial intelligence, analyzing the applications that we use the most to display them on the home screen.

The objective is that we always have the apps we need at hand so that we are less distracted with the mobile and make its own use easier. It is a free launcher with outstanding performance, so let's show you how it works.

Minimalist, well designed and with artificial intelligence

Yasan Launcher

Yasan Launcher is a launcher that only shows us the apps we use the most on the home screen. Basically, it applies a method similar to that of the Google launcher recommendations: if you use an app a lot, it shows it, if not, it hides it. Although this is already done by other launchers, the interface of this one is quite neat.

On the home screen, we have a small box with a 4x3 grid for apps. If we want to access the menu or the list of apps, we just have to give a little touch, and the rest of the settings will appear, with a very careful animation.

Despite being minimalist, the launcher's customization options are quite complete. Of course, it is not compatible with icon packs
Although up to here it seems simple and minimalist (because it is), the customization options are enormous.

We can configure the animations, change system elements to hide them and make the UI cleaner, choose the apps that will be shown, the ones we want to hide, create folders, leave applications fixed so that they always appear, use gestures, etc.

The list of settings is complete and allows us to choose for ourselves the contents that the launcher shows, in case we are not too convinced by the operation of the AI.

Yasan Launcher is in early access for free on the Play Store and can be downloaded on any Android. It is completely free, but if we want functions such as customizing gestures, and unlocking some extra options, we can support the developer with 8.99 euros.

Google has renewed the interface of its application for the recognition of objects, buildings and texts: the new design of Lens is reaching all users. Simpler interface, minimalist style , inspired by the Google camera and with the different sections in the form of a lower menu.

The appearance of our mobile does not usually change if we do not personalize it manually, but the same does not happen with applications, especially those of Google: one day you open an app and it turns out that the design has changed , even without having done any update.

These types of changes are made from the server and taking advantage of Google Play services . And Lens is the last of the services that has received a revamp: its new interface is now available.

Minimal style and GCam-inspired design

The new style of Google Lens was first spotted in July this year . Those first tests were very limited, so very few users managed to get the hang of it . And a week ago 9to5Google captured the evolved interface on more phones, a sign that Google was pushing the boundaries.

After the tests delimited by the now usual 'A / B Testing' by Google, the changes are now reaching all users with the update of the Google app. To see the new interface, just open the assistant (hold down the Home button, swipe from the bottom corner of the screen or say 'Ok, Google') and click on the Google Lens icon, the one that appears to the left of the screen. bottom microphone: the new Lens interface will open.

Google has improved the design by leaving more space for what the camera captures and eliminating the floating bubbles to change them for a lower selection menu . The chosen option does appear as a bubble; with the option to upload the image from the gallery using the icon on the left. Additionally, the focus area now features a sort of square on the screen as a viewfinder .

All without changing the operation or technical characteristics of Google Lens: the service allows you to translate on the fly, recognize what is on the screen, offer text transcription, solve mathematical equations and search for products just by taking a photo.

The Google Lens update is reaching all users . In the event that you do not yet have the new interface, make sure that the Google app is updated to the latest version.
